Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a mental health condition characterized by recurring, unwanted thoughts (obsessions) and repetitive behaviors or mental acts (compulsions) that a person feels driven to perform. These symptoms can interfere with daily activities, relationships, and overall quality of life.

Common obsessions may include fears of contamination, intrusive thoughts, or a need for order and symmetry. Compulsions often involve repeated actions such as excessive handwashing, checking, counting, or organizing in an attempt to reduce anxiety.

With proper diagnosis and treatment, individuals with OCD can effectively manage their symptoms. Treatment may include a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and supportive therapeutic approaches tailored to each individual’s needs.

The goal of care is to help reduce obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors, improve daily functioning, and support long-term mental health and well-being.
